The 2021–22 ISU Junior Grand Prix is the 24th season of a series of junior international competitions organized by the International Skating Union. It is the junior-level complement to the 2021–22 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Skaters compete for medals in the disciplines of men’s singles, women’s singles, pairs, and ice dance, as well as for qualifying points. The top six from each discipline will qualify for the 2021–22 Junior Grand Prix Final, to be held together with the senior final.
2021–22 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating
The 2021–22 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating will be a series of invitational senior internationals scheduled to run from October 2021 through December 2021. Medals will be awarded in the disciplines of men’s singles, women’s singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Skaters earned points based on their placement at each event and the top six in each discipline qualified to compete at the Grand Prix Final in Osaka, Japan.
Organized by the International Skating Union, the series set the stage for the 2022 European, the 2022 Four Continents, and the 2022 World Championships, as well as the 2022 Winter Olympics. The corresponding series for junior-level skaters will be the 2021–22 ISU Junior Grand Prix.
2022 U.S. Figure Skating Championships
The 2022 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships will be held from January 3–9, 2022 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Medals will be awarded in the disciplines of men’s singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating, and ice dance at the senior and junior levels. The results will be part of the U.S. selection criteria for the 2022 World Championships, 2022 World Junior Championships, the 2022 Four Continents Championship, and the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Nashville announced as the host in October 2019. It previously hosted the event in 1997.
European Championships 2022
The European Figure Skating Championships an annual figure skating competition in which figure skaters compete for the title of European champion. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men’s singles, women’s singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The event is sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and is the sport’s oldest competition.
Four Continents Championships (4CC)
The Four Continents Figure Skating Championships (4CC) is an annual figure skating competition. The International Skating Union established it in 1999 to provide skaters representing non-European countries with a similar competition to the much older European Figure Skating Championships. The event’s name refers to Africa, the Americas, Asia and Oceania (four of the continents represented in the Olympic rings, omitting Europe). Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men’s singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.
Beijing Winter Olympics 2022
The 2022 Winter Olympics, officially the XXIV Olympic Winter Games and also known as Beijing 2022, are an upcoming international winter multi-sport event scheduled to take place from 4 to 20 February 2022 in Beijing and towns in the neighboring Hebei province in the People’s Republic of China.
Beijing was elected as host city in July 2015 at the 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur. The 2022 Winter Olympics will be the last of three consecutive Olympics to be held in East Asia, and the second to be held in China, after the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. For the first time, the Winter Olympics will be hosted by a city that previously hosted the Summer Olympics; four existing indoor venues that were originally constructed for the 2008 Games, as well as the Beijing National Stadium (which will host the opening and closing ceremonies), will be used.
World Junior Championships 2022
The World Junior Figure Skating Championships (“World Juniors” or “Junior Worlds”) is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which figure skaters within a designated age range compete for the title of World Junior champion. The ISU guidelines for junior eligibility have varied throughout the years – currently, skaters must be at least 13 years old but not yet 19 before the previous 1 July, except for men competing in pair skating and ice dancing where the age maximum is 21.
This event is one of the four annual ISU figure skating Championships and is considered the most prestigious international competition for juniors. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men’s singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.
World Championships 2022
The World Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union. Medals are awarded in the categories of men’s singles, women’s singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Generally held in March, the World Championships are considered the most prestigious of the ISU Figure Skating Championships. With the exception of the Olympic title, a world title is considered to be the highest competitive achievement in figure skating.
The corresponding competition for junior-level skaters is the World Junior Championships. The corresponding competition for senior-level synchronized skating is the World Synchronized Skating Championships and for junior level the World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships.
The 2022 World Figure Skating Championships will take place March 21-27, 2022, in Montpellier, France. Worlds is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union.
