Thirteen of the world’s leading professional skateboarders competed in the inaugural Red Bull Solus at Ryan Sheckler’s private skate park, The Berrics. Each skater was given just one hour alone to skate their sickest continuous line for evaluation by a panel of the skateboarding industry’s best judges.
For the skaters that competed, The Red Bull SOLUS presented a challenge that was both mentally and physically taxing. They understood the level of competition they were up against, and that there would be some sick skate lines being thrown down.
Every skater entered in SOLUS was capable of pulling off amazing technical tricks and tight transition skating, and the resulting lines in the submission videos proved it. We get to see some of the best skateboard pros in the world laying down some of the sickest lines possible, and that’s a feat considering the pressure involved. Some skaters got their lines at the last minute and other skaters wouldn’t get a line at all.
Lucky for us Taylor Kirby did complete a gnarly line that gave him the win against more seasoned competitive skateboarding pros in the first Red Bull SOLUS Digital Skateboarding Contest.
“These contest skaters are gonna be laughing at me it’s okay I’m laughing at them too”.
It was really awesome seeing the genuine surprise on Taylor’s face when he saw Ryan Sheckler holding the check. He is obviously a cool, down to earth kind of guy, and winning this skate contest was not entirely expected. We really look forward to following his skating career in the future.

“God damn it never had a big check before!”
